After being offered a player-coach deal at German third-tier side MSV Duisburg Marvin Compper brings an end to a truly woeful 19-month spell at Parkhead, much to the delight of the Celtic supporters.
The German made just one appearance in a Celtic shirt having been signed by Brendan Rodgers in December 2017 and it’s safe to say his presence at Celtic Park won’t be missed by the Celtic faithful. Despite having a year left on his deal it was decided that it was best for all parties to let the 34-year-old move on to the side who finished bottom of 2. Bundesliga last season.

It’s no surprise that when Celtic announced that he was departing they struggled to find a picture of the former RB Leipzig player in a Hoops kit, having played just once against Morton in the Scottish Cup. Amazingly the Celtic flop made one appearance for Germany- playing in a 2-1 defeat to England alongside future World Cup winners Per Mertesacker, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Miroslav Klose. At least in his one appearance for Celtic they managed to win the game.
These Celtic fans are happy to see the back of someone who might as well have not been at the club for the vast majority of his spell in Glasgow and will be regarded as one of the biggest flops in the club’s history.
Got to be the worst bit of business in the history of world football. Was he really that bad that he couldn’t get a game?

“The greatest trick Marvin Commper ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.”
