“Deadly” – A lot of Rangers fans are loving their opening goal against East Fife in the Betfred Cup – scored by Jermain Defoe and assisted by Filip Helander.
The big Swede strode into midfield and pinged a pass into Defoe’s feet – who in one motion flicked the ball past the defender and calmly rolled the ball into the net.
It was a goal that showed the 36-year-old’s class to take the defender out of the game and then score his sixth goal of the season.
It is fair to say that the former Sunderland man is on fire in Scotland and Steven Gerrard has healthy competition between his forwards.
These Rangers fans, though, love that first goal.

Also a beautiful exercise on how to pass the ball into the net not blast it. Just top quality from a top quality player. We’re blessed to have him
