West Brom have started to make traction in the transfer market after the additions of Kenneth Zohore and Semi Ajayi but a move for Sporting CP’s Brazilian winger Matheus Pereira looks to have stalled for the time being, according to Matt Wilson of the Star & Express – which has left many supporters at the Hawthorns begging the club to pay what’s needed.

Slaven Bilic is keen to sign Pereira on a season-long loan this summer with an option to buy if it all goes well at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. However, it is thought that the Portuguese club want a £9m obligation fee installed in the deal regardless of whether The Baggies win promotion to the Premier League or not next term.

A number of fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest update with many suggesting the club should just pay up. One supporter referenced the fact the club signed flop Oliver Burke for £15m so they should be signing Pereira for less. Another fan said the club need all the help they can get when trying to justify the £9m price tag.

The Brazilian was on loan at FC Nurnberg last season as they were relegated from the Bundesliga. He made 21 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and assisting two more – playing on both flanks as well as in attacking midfield. Pereira also won the Rookie of the Month for April for his performances.

Some of The Baggies fanbase believe the 23-year-old would be a great signing whilst one fan said it was the classic gamble claiming it would be a steal if he’s the next Matty Phillips but not if he’s the new Scott Sinclair. Another member of the West Brom support said he thought the deal was dead and buried so it would be a nice surprise if it were to happen.
