West Brom are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer with right-back Darnell Furlong reportedly joining from Queens Park Rangers – but the potential transfer hasn’t cooled interest in bringing back loan star Mason Holgate to the club this summer, at least according to Matt Wilson of the Express & Star. The news has left many excited West Brom supporters desperate to see the Everton man return to the Hawthorns.

Holgate impressed during a loan spell at the club after joining in the January transfer window – he made 21 appearances, scoring once, assisting four goals as well as picking up four Man of the Match awards. The 22-year-old primarily featured at right-back for The Baggies but is able to also play centre-back which may be preferred next season if the signing of Furlong is to come to fruition.

A number of fans took to Twitter as they couldn’t contain their emotions as one labelled the young starlet easily one of the best defenders they’ve had in a long while with another stating that the news makes him very happy on a dreaded Monday morning.

Others claimed they would cry if Holgate were to return whilst some didn’t have an issue with it being another loan deal stating that he’s better than anyone else at the club and the fact he can play either right-back or centre-back was a big yes.

Here’s a selection of tweets from a number of West Brom supporters:
