Matt Wilson, of The Express and Star, reported that West Bromwich Albion are closing in on the signing of QPR right-back Darnell Furlong.
While that could be enough to excite a lot of Baggies fans, Wilson wasn’t finished there with the transfer news.
It was also mentioned that while the signing of Furlong is to fill the gap at right-back, the club remain interested in Everton defender Mason Holgate. The Baggies are reportedly keen on having the English defender on loan for a second time following a successful spell last season.
The 22-year-old made 23 appearances for Albion last season, playing at both right-back as well as centre back. Holgate registered four assists and one goal for the Midlands club having joined in the January transfer window.
The news of a potential return for Holgate has many Baggies fans in dreamland. A lot of Albion fans are also happy to see that the club are signing “fresh young hungry players” this summer.
Here is the best of the reaction.

Good signing this would be. Soo refreshing to see us finally getting fresh young hungry players in. Wonder how much Holgate would cost to buy him. Surely would be a good investment with his age etc. 5/6million?

Interesting about Holgate still being a possibility regardless of this deal. And with Sawyers maybe coming in too, we seem to actually be taking this window seriously.
