It is not even the end of August yet, and Rangers have played 11 games – so far, they are unbeaten in all competitions and have looked relatively untroubled.

In fact, they have scored a staggering 31 goals while they have only conceded five and should they make it through tonight in the Europa League – it will have been the perfect start for Steven Gerrard’s men.

The first real test of the season, however, is just around the corner – as Rangers prepare to host Celtic in the first Old Firm derby of the season.

Last year the Gers beat the Celts both times at Ibrox – 1-0 and 2-0 respectively. So, Gerrard will be hoping for similar on Sunday.

These two are clearly the best team’s in Scotland, and the title race could even be decided by the results of the four Old Firm games.

Celtic have started the season well – except for crashing out of the Champions League before the group stages.

However, in the league, they have looked brilliant and have scored 13 goals in just three games.

At the weekend, though, they could only manage a draw with Hearts at home.

Gerrard’s side have impressed this season, but the match on Sunday will prove just how good his team are – if they turn up and comfortably beat their archrivals then that will send a statement to the rest of the world.

Of course, if Neil Lennon’s side roll them over then perhaps the title race will be finished before it has even begun.

Either way, we could be in for a fascinating encounter on Sunday and finally a true test for Rangers.
