Former Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall has suggested that the Toffees’ should appoint legend Duncan Ferguson as the new manager if Marco Silva were to be sacked.
The 61-year-old made the claim after Everton fell 2-0 to Sheffield United on Saturday at Goodison Park, and the Portuguese manager is under huge pressure to turn his fortunes around.
Southall was at Everton for 17 years and featured 579 times for the Blues. He is considered one of the darlings of the Gwladys Street and he was part of the infamous Howard Kendall era at the club.
If the manager goes I want big Duncan to have it for a bit give someone who knows what fans want a chance

Everton supporters were not impressed with the Welsh native’s comments about the Scottish legend becoming the first team manager. One fan said that he doesn’t think he would be a good manager despite his aggression.
Another supporter believes that he hasn’t done much training with the strikers at the club, and questions whether he could do any better as a manager than Silva.
Here you will find some of the best reactions from Everton fans:

Sorry big man. I love you and the Missus adores you, but not for me. Mediocre player, despite his fierceness, and I doubt he’d be any better as a manager.

Not sure Nev, he’s not done much training our strikers, could he do better managing the team?

Shocking shout that Big Nev ????. Footys moved on a million miles gone r the days the experienced pro in the side would get the caretakers job to see out the season or the icon ex pro to give the place a lift. We’re spending 100s of million now instant success it what every1 craves

No, Nev, I don’t think it’s a good shout. We need a proper, experienced winning manager if Marco goes. I’m still hoping he can change his stride and improve the team again.

With all due respect big man we would be making the same mistake again. Before Marco Silva came I wanted a manager with a track record and a ‘winning’ style that gets fans out of their seats. That’s not Duncan.
