On a recent episode of Arsenal fan podcast “Arsecast“, David Ornstein revealed that the club have analysed rumoured summer target Hakim Ziyech and decided that the player is not wanted. The Moroccan playmaker seems to be on his way out of Ajax following their stellar season in Europe, reaching a Champions League final and winning the domestic double in the Netherlands. It had been reported earlier this year that the Dutch club had promised Ziyech that he could leave the club this summer if there is interest in the player. However, with Arsenal reportedly limited in terms of transfer spending this summer, the club have decided against the signing.

The news has left many Arsenal fans fuming as Ziyech has previously expressed his desire to play for Arsenal (via The Sun), as well as the reported £25m release clause in Ziyech’s contract. If Arsenal were to contemplate the signing of Ziyech it would come at much less of a cost than Arsenal’s main target Wilfried Zaha, who has been valued at £100m by Crystal Palace. The Moroccan midfielder scored 16 goals and assisted 17 in the Eredivisie last season, as well as scoring three and assisting three in the Champions League.

Here is the reaction to the news:
