According to the Express and Star, four clubs have enquired about taking West Brom’s promising young midfielder Sam Field on loan for this season – three of which are fellow Championship clubs in Barnsley, Wigan Athletic and Charlton Athletic.

The 21-year-old made his professional debut for the club in May 2016 after coming through the academy ranks but has struggled for game time ever since having only made a total of 40 appearances – just 12 of which coming in last season’s Championship playoff run, only four of those matches were starts.

Whether the Baggies keep hold of the midfield starlet for this season remains to be seen but with the transfer deadline looming for Championship clubs the decision needs to be made very soon.

A number of fans at the Hawthorns believe Field should be part of Slaven Bilic’s first-team plans regularly.

One supporter called him a fans favourite who has never let the club down, claiming he would be a perfect holding midfielder to support Romaine Sawyers and Filip Krovinovic before going on to brandish him ‘top draw.’

Others wondered why he wasn’t ahead of Jake Livermore in the pecking order with one fan telling the club to get rid of the 29-year-old so Field could get in the team. This was backed up by another who said that he would take the youngster over Livermore every day of the week.

Here’s the best of the reaction:
