Tottenham Hotspur could be looking at the possibility of securing the signature of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to Alasdair Gold.

The Football.London reporter was speaking on his YouTube channel about Spurs’ potential transfer activity this summer.

On Tuesday, the clubs’ majority shareholder group ENIC announced that they were going to inject £150m worth of cash into the club in a bid to improve the quality of the playing staff.

Antonio Conte is believed to want to bring in at least six players in the summer, and one of his desires is another striker.

Spurs have been linked with several strikers ahead of the summer transfer window already, such as Darwin Nunez and Lautaro Martinez, but Gold has revealed that Osimhen is another possibility for the Lilywhites this summer.

“I know they like Victor Osimhen from Napoli,” said Gold.

“I know they liked him when he was at Lille.”

“Obviously, he’s gone to Napoli and he’s done very well there.”

“[They’ve] kept an eye on him, I think he’s got 18 goals in [32] matches for Napoli.”

The Nigerian international has previously been dubbed as having a “lion’s heart” by former Watford and Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo, and that would certainly fit in with Conte’s passionate style of management.

It will be interesting to see how Conte would plan to fit Osimhen into his system, and if he could form a partnership with Harry Kane, and Spurs’ other in-form forwards such as Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.

The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals in 27 Serie A appearances this season, boasting an impressive goals ratio of 0.64 goals per 90 minutes, as per FBref, suggesting he has a knack for finding the back of the net.

There’s a chance that Osimhen would be a back-up to Harry Kane, but he’d be an expensive one at that with Transfermarkt valuing the striker at £54m, something you’d imagine Spurs will have to pay upwards of.

Even so, whether the Nigeria international would be a backup or a first-team starter, he looks to be a signing that would improve Spurs’ first-team squad significantly.
