Former Tottenham Hotspur player and current transfer target Christian Eriksen is set to make a decision on his future after his holiday.

That is according to Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse, who announced the latest news on the Danish midfielder’s future on his Twitter account.

Manchester United and Brentford are just two other names who have been linked with a move for the 30-year-old maestro, after he made his return to football with the latter in January, after suffering a cardiac arrest in a Euro 2020 fixture between Denmark and Finland last summer.

The £18m-rated creative midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the month and will be free to pick his next destination.

And Collomosse believes that the player himself is yet to decide on where his future lies.

“Eriksen: currently on holiday will assess future on return,” he tweeted.

“Has offers from overseas but preference is to remain in the PL.

Our thoughts on Collomosse’s comments

Spurs fans will be delighted to hear that Eriksen is intent on remaining in the Premier League, and will be praying that he opts for an emotional return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

BBC broadcaster John Bennett has described the former Ajax man as “world-class” in reference to the Dane’s performance in Brentford’s stunning 4-1 victory at Chelsea last season.

During his time at the Bees, the 115-time Denmark international made 11 appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists, according to Transfermarkt.

The 5 foot 11 pass-master ranks in the top 1% of midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues for stats per 90 minutes in assists (0.38), expected assists (0.35), and shot-creating actions (5.08), according to FBref.

The same stats provider suggests that the Dane likes to get the ball forward with his passing, ranking him in the top 7% of midfielders for progressive passes per 90 minutes (6.23), showcasing an impressive quality at progressing the ball up the pitch.

And a SofaScore rating of 7.54 for his Premier League performances last season suggests that the magical midfielder has been in stunning form since his return to football, performing to an exceptional standard when he has been put on the pitch.

We believe that Eriksen would be a magnificent addition for Antonio Conte’s side, as he would offer the Italian’s midfield something more progressive and different to what they’ve already got in Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and the probable signing of Yves Bissouma.

The 30-year-old has performed to a remarkable standard since his return from such a traumatic event, and this bodes well for his standards for the upcoming season.
