Aston Villa’s summer spending spree looks to keep on rolling even with the transfer deadline looming on Thursday as the Express report the club will sign Brentford winger Saïd Benrahma.
The 23-year-old would become manager Dean Smith’s 13th new signing should he arrive, taking their total spend well past the £120m mark – only European giants Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have spent more this off-season.
Benrahma dazzled at Griffin Park last season scoring ten goals and assisting 14 more in 38 Championship appearances – with Andre Green departing on loan last week, it can be argued that another winger is certainly needed at Villa Park.
A number of fans took to Twitter to share their excitement on the potential move.
One supporter claimed it would be the signing of the summer, calling Benrahma an ‘unreal player.’ Whilst great, top class and masterstroke were just three other superlatives used to describe the Algerian winger.
Others said that it would be the best transfer window ever witnessed in the West Midlands labelling it ‘mega’ with one fan said that injury to Anwar El Ghazi proved why Smith is right to chase another winger in this transfer window.
