During a question and answer session as part of the club’s pre-season tour of America, Aston Villa Chief Executive Christian Purlsow has admitted that the influx of signings at Villa Park this summer will not be stopping any time soon. Purslow claimed that there will be two or three more signings before the newly-promoted side are finished in the transfer market.
The Villains have already signed eight players this summer, taking their spending above the €100m mark. The business has been at both ends of the pitch, with the club signing three forwards and five defenders as Dean Smith looks to cement them in the Premier League next season.
The club have recently been linked with Club Brugge’s Zimbabwean midfielder Marvelous Nakamba (Via SportWitness) – as well as Manchester City’s Brazilian youngster Douglas Luiz.
The admission from Purslow has many Villa fans buzzing over the new hierarchy at the club, comparing them to past owners. Some Villa fans think the club need more than two or three signings for the club to have sufficient depth in the squad.
Here is the best of the reaction.
During a question and answer session in Minnesota, Chief Executive Christian Purslow stated that there were still two or three players to come this window – as well as much more that #AVFC fans would want to hear.

Good stuff… and by “2 or 3 more” I’d guess he’s underplaying it. Wouldn’t be surprised to see at least 5 more. To be honest, if we don’t get 2 x mid, 1 or 2 x winger and 1 x striker, we will be pretty light in key areas. #avfc

Seems a bit low unless we are only signing one of Nakamba and Luiz. We could probably survive with Hogan and/or Kodija as the 2nd choice striker and maybe go without bringing in a Winger. But we need a keeper and a DM for definite.
