On TalkSport this morning, pundit Dean Saunders discussed the transfer between Arsenal and Wilfried Zaha and offered his thoughts. Saunders believes that Zaha is the best player outside of the top six clubs in England and valued the Ivorian winger at over £100m in comparison to the fee Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sold to Manchester United for. This has led many Arsenal fans to voice their displeasure over the Welshman’s opinion, claiming that the club’s bid for the player is wholly justified in comparison to the £88m fee paid for Eden Hazard by Real Madrid.

Crystal Palace have placed a £100m price tag on Zaha in an attempt to keep a hold of their star man following the exit of Wan-Bissaka earlier this summer. The latest reports say that Arsenal have bid £40 million pounds for the Ivorian and are hopeful of completing a deal, although the opening bid is said to have incensed Palace, who called the bid “a ham-fisted attempt to destabilise the Ivorian”.

Earlier reports claimed that Arsenal lacked transfer funds and would have to sell striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to fund the Zaha transfer. As well as the Zaha transfer, Arsenal have also reportedly bid for Celtic left back Kieran Tierney and St Etienne centre back William Saliba.
