Aston Villa and Tom Heaton is the transfer rumour that just won’t go away for some supporters – just like a fly on the wall. The pair have been linked all summer as manager Dean Smith tries to improve his current goalkeeping department as none of his current options have any Premier League experience. The ongoing saga with the Burnley shot-stopper has left some Villa fans fuming.

Heaton rejected a contract extension from his club earlier in the off-season with just 12 months remaining on his current deal, he could leave the club on a free this time next year. Football Insider reported last week that Villa had bid £4m for the England international rejected with Sean Dyche’s side looking for triple that to seal the 33-year-old’s signature.

A number of fans took to Twitter to share their anger on the club still lingering around the experienced Premier League keeper with one member of the fanbase bluntly asking the club to move on from him whilst another claimed even the £4m was too much to begin with.

Burnley have also been labelled greedy by one Villa supporter with many others begging the club to just pay what’s required for the much younger Jack Butland – who the Express & Star claimed the club would bid £20m for but Sky Sports have since downplayed their interest after Stoke City wanted too much for the 26-year-old.
