According to Sport, Leeds United star Raphinha has reportedly told the directors at the club that he sees his future at the Nou Camp.

The Lowdown: Raphinha ready to go

The Brazilian winger has seemingly been ready to leave the Yorkshire giants for some time, with his agent Deco reportedly having flown over to Barcelona in early April for talks.

Raphinha had been occupied with the task of keeping the Whites in the division, which he succeeded in after Leeds’ dramatic 2-1 win at Brentford on the final day of the season.

If Leeds were to have been relegated, Raphinha’s €25m (£21.5m) release clause would have been activated. Despite this, it seems Barcelona are still incredibly keen on luring the £40.5m-rated ace to Catalonia.

The Latest: Asked to leave

Having been lauded for his professionalism in the final months of Leeds’ campaign, Raphinha has officially asked for the move to be sanctioned.

Barcelona did make a €35m (£30m) bid back in March which was subsequently rejected by the Whites.

However, with the 25-year-old seeing his time in the Premier League all but over, it seems that Leeds will face a tough task to keep hold of their superstar.

The Verdict: Do anything to keep him

Raphinha, once dubbed “magic” by former Whites striker Noel Whelan, leads his team for goals and is only second to Dan James in most assists.

Leeds United should throw everything they have at the mercurial Brazilian, who has played an integral part in their survival bid.

Not only this, but he fits Marsch’s system so well. He sits in the 91st percentile for blocks per 90 when compared to other attacking midfielders, outlining his willingness to do the dirty work as well as a proficiency in front of goal.

With Barcelona a near-impossible attraction for South Americans to deny, perhaps Marsch could try to convince the winger to give them one more year, and alongside some smart additions hopefully give Raphinha a reason to stay.
