The Scottish transfer window slammed shut on Monday night, and it has to be said that Rangers have had a good summer and their squad is a lot stronger than it was last season.

Overall, Steven Gerrard signed 11 players and has added some serious competition to his defence, midfield and on the wings.

The main spending was on Ryan Kent who rejoined the Gers after a fantastic season last year – he has cost them £7m.

The other man who has cost a significant amount of money is giant Swedish defender Filip Helander who was bought from Bologna.

The other key signings that Gerrard has made include Joe Aribo the 23-year-old who turned down clubs in the Premier League and the Championship to move to Glasgow.

He has impressed so far and is quickly making himself a fan favourite at Ibrox.

The arrivals of Sheyi Ojo and Jordan Jones have added real pace and guile to Steven Gerrard’s side – with both particularly impressing in the Europa League.

Gerrard has also added Andy King to his side. The 30-year-old will bring some much-needed experience to the Gers and also a significant goal threat.

Gerrard now has two players for every position bar right-back where James Tavernier is clearly first choice.

Rangers summer transfer business has allowed Gerrard to build a squad that can challenge on four fronts this season.

The Old Firm result was a major setback for the Gers, but they still have the squad to compete with Celtic for all of the significant silverware.

This summer Gerrard was backed by his board, and it is now down to him to deliver.
