Rangers have pursued Ryan Kent all summer but with not long of the transfer window remaining – it looks like he may end up staying in Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp is adamant that Kent will not be leaving on loan this summer and that a permanent deal is the only route the 22-year-old has out of Anfield.
Steven Gerrard is said to be desperate to bring Kent back to Ibrox – after a stellar season last year where he was voted as the Scottish Young Player of the Year.
The Reds want £7m, and the Gers cannot afford that unless they progress into the Europa League group stages.
However, if they miss out on Kent, it will not be the end of the world.
The 22-year-old played both as a winger and as a midfielder last season for Gerrard’s side, but the 39-year-old now has the cover to cope without Kent.
On the wings, Rangers have Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker, and Jamie Murphy. Certainly, Ojo and Jones have impressed so far, and they look like they could cause havoc this season.
Ojo has scored four goals and provided three assists in only six games.
In midfield, the Gers have Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Scott Arfield, Andy King and Joe Aribo. All of these will provide Gerrard with exciting and dynamic options in midfield – which should provide a fair share of goals and creativity.
A lot of Rangers fans would love to sign Kent, but if they miss out, they have enough cover and quality not to be troubled too much by missing out on Kent.
