Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has had a strong start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, but some Spurs fans are questioning the credibility of the Englishman’s latest statistical achievement.
Winks, 23, has risen through the ranks at Spurs to become an important part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad whilst also garnering international acclaim under Gareth Southgate for the Three Lions.
Playing in a central midfield role for both club and country, Winks’ range of passing is one of the 23-year-old’s greatest assets, but after having passed Paul Pogba and Jorginho as having the league’s highest number of passes at 283, some Spurs fans are questioning just how much of an achievement this is for the promising midfielder.
Check out some of the best reactions to Winks’ record-breaking stat below.

Because we’ve had too much unnecessary possession

Winks is a good player. But bit too reminiscent of Ray “The Crab” Wilkins. Sideways, back, sideways, back…. Needs more penetration, risk, vision.

The most pointless stat of all time ????

All his passes are backwards and sideways. He is so pedestrian, he’s Everton.
