Celtic brought their Austria and Switzerland training camp to an end with a demoralising 0-0 draw against Swiss side St. Gallen.
The scoreline was worrying for Neil Lennon’s side given they begin their Champions League qualification campaign in less than a week and he would’ve liked his team to stamp their authority on a game that their fans expected them to win. The game will probably be remembered for Jozo Simunovic receiving a straight red in the 75th minute after the referee seeked assistance from VAR before handing the centre back the red card.

Celtic’s starting XI looked as if it was Lennon preparing to face Bosnian champions FK Sarajevo next week with it being as strong as possible. There was no room for new signing Christopher Julien- who might be fit and ready for the qualifiers next week- or Kieran Tierney who looks like he’s played his last game for the Bhoys in Green. Lennon would’ve hoped for more from his front line of Odsonne Edouard, Mikey Johnstone, James Forrest and new boy Marian Shved yet none of them impressed.
These Celtic fans have just been a bit jilted by the scoreline as attention now turns to the vital Champions League qualifiers next week.
Aware it’s just a friendly however that was painful to watch. I love Hayes work rate but his quality is just dreadful. Ralston not good enough. Hope this isn’t anything to go off for the qualifiers!

Don’t usually get too concerned by results on these preseason tours. But with a real game a few days away, that was terrifyingly poor. Lennon just can’t get a tune out of the senior players.
