Ruben Neves’ status in the West Midlands has risen to dumbfounded levels after his recent comments in the press stating that he feels at home in Wolverhampton – leaving a number of supporters throwing further admiration behind their defensive midfield anchor.

The 22-year-old’s move to England’s second-tier was originally frowned upon with many wondering why one of Portugal’s biggest rising stars was leaving Porto for Wolves. He had made his domestic debut at the age of 17 and took a record off Cristiano Ronaldo as the youngest-ever Portuguese player to play the Champions League before then becoming the youngest captain in the competition a season later.

Neves is an imperative member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad having made 40 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring five goals and assisting four more – contributing towards their seventh place finish in the Premier League which gave The Wanderers a spot in the Europa League for the first time in almost 40 years.

His performances over the course of last season always drew reported interest from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool but his latest remarks have certainly put to bed any potential of a move away which has clearly delighted many of the Molineux faithful with one supporter brandishing the midfielder as one of the greatest to put on the old gold shirt.

Others expressed their love for Neves with one fan begging he spends his entire career in the West Midlands whilst another supporter called him a genius which was further echoed by the simple claim that he is a legend.
