During a friendly with Borussia Dortmund in Notre Dame, Nathaniel Clyne suffered severe knee ligament damage that saw him ruled out for at least six months.

The Reds are yet to win a game on their pre-season tour of America, losing to Dortmund and Sevilla, and drawing with Sporting Lison.

Following the game, manager Jurgen Klopp said that the injury to Clyne “will not have an influence on our transfers”. The club are currently without a natural back-up in either full back position as Spaniard Alberto Moreno left the club this summer following the end of his contract.

The club are yet to make any senior signings this summer, with 17-year-old Sepp Van den Berg being the only incoming on Merseyside so far.

Klopp’s reaction has angered some Liverpool fans, as they wonder why the club haven’t already made signings. A few Reds fans didn’t think he would be in the manager’s plans anyway, with Joe Gomez and James Milner being above him in the pecking order.

Here is the best of the reaction.
