Steven Gerrard has named his first competitive Rangers side of the new season as The Gers take on St. Joseph’s of Gibraltar in the first round of Europa League qualifying and these fans can’t decide if they like it or not.

Gerrard has announced his first starting XI of the new season and there are a few calls that have surprising for the Rangers fans: Borna Barisic at left-back; Steven Davis in midfield alongside Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara; and Jermain Defoe getting the nod to lead the line ahead of injury doubt Alfredo Morelos. These Rangers fans aren’t sure what to make of the side to face St. Joseph’s in the crunch European tie tonight.

Having played as recently as Sunday against Oxford United Gerrard has kept his cards close to his chest in pre-season and as a result, fans have been left somewhat bemused by a couple of the decisions in the first team-lines of the season. Defoe starting over Morelos was always likely given the Colombian’s injury doubts but Gerrard stating that the 23-year-old striker was allowed to leave if a ‘really big offer’ came in means some fans are sweating over his future.

These Rangers fans aren’t totally convinced by Gerrard’s team selection but are still hopeful of getting past the Gibraltans on their own patch.
