The fortunes of Aston Villa managers over the last four years have been extremely mixed, but the comments from one former manager from his time in B6 have got some Villa fans angry and confused.
Roberto Di Mateo was in charge at Villa Park from June 2016 to October 2016, but the Italian manager’s tenure in the West Midlands came to an abrupt and unsatisfactory end after an extremely poor start to the 2016/17 Championship campaign.
The former Chelsea boss, who won the Champions League with the Blues, spoke to Gregg Evans of The Athletic to express his discontent after being let go after just 124 days in charge at the club, but some of Villa’s fans are certainly letting their feelings be known after Di Mateo’s latest comments.
Check out some of the best reactions to Di Mateo’s comments below.
Roberto Di Matteo: “I was pissed off when it ended (at Aston Villa). We spoke about a project and agreed that the first season was going to be tough. The play-offs were the aim and I believe we would have got there.” [gregg evans, the athletic] #avfc
