Rangers academy graduate Josh McPake has finally put pen to paper on a deal to keep him at Ibrox until 2022.
The tricky midfielder caught the eye during last weekend’s 5-0 demolition of Karl Robinson’s Oxford United and has committed his future to Steven Gerrard’s men. The 17-year-old will look to get his first taste of first-team competitive action over the course of the season.
Gerrard has spoken of utilising the academy even more than he did last season in the coming year having brought through Ross McCrorie and Glenn Middleton last season regularly in the first team. The former Liverpool captain has said: “The academy are aware of what we are looking for moving forward and there will be opportunities for them.
“But they will be training with us throughout the season in certain situations, and if they shine and prove they are as good as the people in front of them, then I won’t be scared to use them.”
These Rangers fans will be hoping that Gerrard sticks true to his word having witnessed how exciting McPake can be and think he’ll soon be ready for the Rangers first team.
Great news Keep working hard Josh
