In the first meeting between the two sides for over seven years, south coast rivals Portsmouth and Southampton faced off in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, with the Saints prevailing as 4-0 victors to progress to the last 16.

A brace from Danny Ings and a goal from Nathan Redmond gave Southampton three of their goals much to the delight of the travelling fans, but a goal from one of the club’s understated players has got some fans simply loving his performance.

Cedric Soares, 28, struck in the 77th minute to put the Saints 3-0 up before Redmond added gloss to the scoreline, but the Portuguese defender’s passionate performance has got some fans appreciating his contribution.
