Leeds United fans on Twitter are worried after Phil Hay posted a transfer update speculating that the club may not sign another central defender.
The journalist usually provides a great insight into the inner workings of the Elland Road outfit, and he believes that the Whites will persevere with Ben White as their main centre-back option.
The 21-year-old was signed on loan from Brighton this summer, and Hay believes he is highly rated by Marcelo Bielsa.
This has concerned a number of supporters as the Whites now lack depth at centre-back after the sales of Pontus Jansson, Paudie O’Connor and Aapo Halme.
This leaves the Whites with only Liam Cooper, Gaetano Berardi and White as their senior centre-back options.
The Yorkshire club have previously been linked with a move for Gary Cahill, but this latest update has seemingly put an end to those whispers.
Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter…
It’s so strange though Phil, it’s not like we doubt White ourselves, our point is to have strength in depth, so having a 3rd specialist CB for injuries/suspensions etc seems a no brainer – why isn’t Bielsa thinking like that? Especially after last season

That mental considering it was plainly obvious for all to see that we lacked strength in depth at CB when we had injuries, KP and Berardi, Hale and even Ayling had to go there which led to weak midfield without KP and goals conceded. Halme I thought did a decent job but was sold.

Both Cooper and bara can be liabilities at times definitely need a good strong cb white looks ok but haven’t played anyone yet .need experience,if we fail to get promotion this season manager goes radz skint back to square one.

Think we’ll all end up been a big fan of white. Probably still need one though

That’s clearly mad & a reason we didn’t get promotion last year! Hopefully 1 of the youth players is good enough as back up cause I don’t think Berardi’s good enough personally!
