Leeds United fans are split in their views of Gaetano Berardi, and they have been taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.
This comes after one Leeds fan posted a passionate defence of the Swiss centre-back just a week before the new season starts.
Berardi has come under a lot of criticism from fans and pundits alike this summer, but with the departure of Pontus Jansson, he may find himself as one of Leeds’ first-choice centre-backs.
Some fans praised the 30-year-old for his passion for the club, but others labelled him as a liability due to his tendency to get sent off.
It’s hard to argue with the fans who aren’t on Berardi’s side as he has been red-carded more times than any other Leeds player in history, barring Alan Smith.
It remains to be seen how he will perform this season, but at the moment he has just as many critics as he has supporters.
Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter…
Not good enough to be at the club. Irrespective of passion or loyalty he hasn’t got the footballing mindset to help achieve our goal. Derby at home was a perfect example.

He’s featured for every manager since he arrived, he’s explained himself time and again, his character has that wild streak, accept it, nobody is perfect. I rate the guy like so many in that team #MOT

People are allowed an opinion, whether you like it or not ????♂️He’s Leeds but he isn’t good enough. He simply cannot be relied upon. Tell me I’m wrong.

He’s not good enough as a central defender plain and simple! If we have rely on him playing there, we ain’t going up, if that’s disrespecting him then so be it but it’s the truth! ????????♂️

He has much more ability than people give him credit for

He’s my favourite player! I love his attitude, his tenacity, his loyalty and his fire. He should always be in our squad and deserves to play at least part of every game. His ONLY fault is his hot-headedness but I can live with that because he delivers everywhere else ❤️❤️❤️

We’re all passionate about and loyal to Leeds. The difference is, he’s on the pitch and has the opportunity to ruin games for us. I don’t care how passionate he is, he’s a liability.
