Leeds United have made their first deadline day move by bringing in 19-year-old French goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The Frenchman plugs the gap left by Bailey Peacock-Farrell after the Northern Irishman departed Elland Road to join Burnley this summer.

It’s unknown whether Meslier will be a backup or Leeds’ new number one.

At the moment, Kiko Casilla is the starter between the sticks, but with the amount of criticism he has faced from the fanbase over the past few months, he could be dropped.

Meslier is a highly-rated stopper as well. Monaco wanted to sign him for €10m last year, but that deal never came to fruition and he’s now going to be plying his trade in Yorkshire.

Despite seemingly signing a promising goalkeeper in Meslier, some Leeds fans aren’t too happy with the deal.

The fanbase are seemingly fed up of signing players on loan as the youngster became the fifth player to join United on a temporary basis this summer.

One supporter took aim at Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani, while another urged his club to spend some money.

A few other supporters were quite happy with his arrival.

You can see why as well. The teenager conceded just 32 goals in 28 games in Ligue 2 last season, which is an impressive record for someone so young.

Of course, a number of supporters have been caught up in the deadline day madness and their main concern was around which other players will be signing before the close of play.
