Leeds United fans on Twitter are far from happy after Phil Hay confirmed that Anderlecht are interested in Kemar Roofe.
The Daily Mail originally reported the Belgian side’s interest in the striker, and the former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist was quick to confirm that their reports were accurate.
Vincent Kompany’s new side are apparently ready to spend £7m on the Leeds man.
Of course, the prospect of selling last season’s top scorer has had a number of supporters frenzied on social media as this sale would leave them with just one senior striker in the shape of Patrick Bamford.
Bamford himself received a lot of criticism last year, and with the injury problems he has sustained over the past 12 months, there are certainly question marks surrounding whether or not he can be trusted to lead the line.
One complaint that several fans had was surrounding the view that Leeds are becoming a selling club.
You can understand their frustrations as well. Pontus Jansson has already been sold for a measly £5.5m, and now the Whites look like they could sell their top goalscorer just days before their opening game against Bristol City.
Selling club only going backwards be lucky if finish in top 6

Really not sure what @andrearadri is trying to do?! Might let our top goalscorer go. Let our best CB go – I dont care if he had attitude issues. We struggled at CB all last season – we now have less CBs than we did then! Great on signing Costa but 1 player is not enough #lufc

Phil, the three ????????????’s running the show Radrizzani, Orta & Kinnear do realise we’re in the championship don’t they? I’m beginning to think we’re taking part in some 5 a side tournament this season due to all outgoings.

Some supporters took this as an opportunity to have a subtle dig at the higher-ups at Elland Road.
On Thursday Leeds’ managing director Angus Kinnear said that there may still be some twists and turns in this window, and this negative update seemingly is one of them.
There’s one of the twists

Ah, the twists and turns of the transfer window.

Others were just resigned to the fact that this move will make their team weaker and hinder their chances of being promoted next season.
I give up if we get rid of roofe lol

It’ll happen next week, Leeds will have no one lined up and we’ll enter the season with just Bamford. Well played Leeds. ????????????????????????
