Sometimes football can provide you with the greatest reminders of how old you really are.
Theo Walcott going to the World Cup as a 17-year-old, Ryan Sessegnon becoming the first player born in the 2000s to score in the Premier League and pretty much everything Kylian Mbappe does.
These are all great examples of how football can make you feel old before your time, but on Thursday Birmingham City fans will have had another stark reminder.
Jude Bellingham has been touted as one of the best young players in the country, and earlier this month he made his first-team debut for the Blues.
Despite the fact he can now officially say he’s played in a senior match, on Thursday he had to go and pick up his GCSE results.
Bellingham posted a story on Instagram showing him on his way to collect his grades. He wished everyone else good luck and used a sticker which says ‘Results are in’.
Perhaps it won’t be as stressful an experience for Bellingham as it is for other 16-year-olds across the country as his career as a professional footballer has already started, but this post will certainly make many Blues supporters feel very old.
