When you think about players swapping the Premier League for MLS you usually think of some veteran players who are heading to the USA to finish their playing careers.

In recent seasons we’ve seen the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Wayne Rooney move from the English top-flight over to America, but in this past transfer window, we’ve seen something entirely different.

22-year-old Josh Sims has headed to New York Red Bulls on loan for the season, and he took to Instagram to share a few snaps from his first training session.

The Southampton midfielder was getting to work ahead of the Red Bulls’ final few weeks of the season and their potential impending playoff campaign.

The club from the Big Apple currently sit in fourth in the Eastern Conference, and Sims may be key in their pursuit of the MLS Cup.

Sims is due to return to St Mary’s at the beginning of 2020, and many supporters will be hoping that he can hone his craft during his time in the US and come back even stronger.
