It’s been such a busy summer for Nottingham Forest. They’ve brought in 12 new players, but now that the window is shut it’s time to focus on matters on the pitch.
Sabri Lamouchi will be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking his team at the weekend as his squad has 39 senior players in it.
Therein lies a huge problem for the Reds, as the manager may struggle to decide what his strongest starting XI is.
Unfortunately, their next fixture is against Leeds United, and with the Whites being one of the favourites for promotion it’s easy to see it being a long afternoon for the Reds at Elland Road.
Another loss this weekend would tempt Lamouchi into once again switching his starting XI, and with so many players to choose from it will be easy for him to do so.
A huge squad coupled up with a tough start could leave the gaffer chopping and changing on a week by week basis. Forest have already lost to West Brom, and before August if over they still have to play Leeds and Fulham, who are two of the strongest sides in the division.
With every defeat there would be the growing temptation to change things again, and the longer this goes on for the worse Forest’s chances of promotion are.
Team cohesion is key at any level, but with 39 players on the books it will almost be impossible to have everyone reading off of the same hymn sheet, so it’s vital that Lamouchi finds the winning formula early in the campaign.
