Ian Wright was in attendance at Elland Road as Leeds beat Brentford on Wednesday night, and he was particularly impressed with the performance of Kalvin Phillips.

The Yorkshire club overcame the Bees, and while the Arsenal legend was overwhelmed by seeing a young Gunner score the winning goal – it was Phillips who truly caught his eye.

The former England international took to Instagram to praise the 23-year-old.

He posed for a picture with the commanding midfielder after the match captioning the photo stating that he was brilliant against Brentford.

Phillips has been one of the top performers in the Championship since Marcelo Bielsa arrived at the club. He made the EFL Team of the Season last term, and he’s also received praise from some of the biggest names in punditry.

It’s not just Wright who’s been blown away by Phillips this term. Gary Neville was quick to praise the midfielder after his performance against Salford City in the Carabao Cup.
