Liverpool fans have been responding to comments made by the out of favour Reds’ centre half Dejan Lovren after he admitted that he did consider leaving during the summer.
The 30-year-old signed for the Merseyside club in 2014 and has been in and out of the side since the arrival of Virgil van Dijk in January 2018, where Jurgen Klopp has favoured the likes of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez to play alongside the Dutchman.
Lovren said that he was told by the German manager that he was still required at the club and that he would not be allowed to go out on loan. He added that he wanted to leave but it didn’t happen, Liverpool needed him and he accepted it.
Lovren : “Yes, I did consider moving, I knew I gave my best for Liverpool, won CL & I am not kind of player that likes to be benched & earn money. Some people around me advised me “What do you care, you are in big club, shut up take the money” But I am not happy on the bench.”

His response encouraged many positive messages of support for Lovren. One fan said that he appreciates his honest assessment of the situation, knowing the situation that he is crucial for the club. He added that he is happy with the Croatian international staying as a fourth choice centre half.
Another supporter commented that he loves him, but wishes that his mistakes did not hold him back from the first team.

I like that about Lovren, honest assessment but he knows he is cruicial for us. Happy he’s staying even if he is 4th choice

Agree not ready for prem, but think Lovren gets cups games with Gomez ahead of them, especially after his most recent quotes.

Not his fault he’s always injured. He’s one of the hardest workers in the squad.
