Liverpool supporters have been responding on social media to a classic goal scored by ex-Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

The 30-year-old bagged a delightful chip from 20 yards that saw the Reds overcome West Bromwich Albion in a 4-1 at Anfield back in 2013. But despite Luis Suarez scoring a hat-trick for the Reds on the day, Sturridge’s goal was the talking point.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City forward was released from Anfield at the end of last season after six years at the club and now plays for the Turkish-outfit Trabzonspor.

His best season was undoubtedly his final season playing alongside Luis Suarez before his move to Barcelona in 2013/14, where he conjured up 22 goals in 29 appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool as well as nine assists.

Sturridge ended his time at Anfield after making 160 appearances in total for the Reds and scoring 67 goals since his £12m move from Chelsea in January 2013.

Liverpool supporters were left drooling when the Premier League’s official Twitter account posted the Daniel Sturridge strike.

One fan said that that goal was his “favourite Sturridge goal of all time“, but added that it was only the beginning for the Englishman until injuries blighted his career.

The love for Sturridge continued as another supporter mentioned that he remembers being at Anfield that day and the afternoon as a whole leaves him with good memories.

Here are some of the best responses from Liverpool fans:
