One of Leicester City’s midfielders is gaining interest from Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne. According to Evect, Nampalys Mendy is one of the targets they want to pursue this summer which has left some supporters in the Midlands wanting the club to recuperate some of the £13m fee they paid for him back in 2016.
The Frenchman, once compared to Claude Makelele, has made only 42 appearances for The Foxes since joining the club from Nice – the majority of which came last season as Leicester finished ninth in the Premier League. Mendy has already returned to France once during his spell at Leicester, going back to Nice on loan in the 2017/18 season.
A number of fans took to social media to give their thoughts on the potential exit of the former France U21 international with one supporter saying to move him on as he’s never going to be a consistent starter. Another fan echoed these thoughts stating that he’s not a bad little player but take the money and reinvest.
Others were a bit more blunt saying to simply get rid whilst a few believed he’s behind Wilfred Ndidi and Hamza Choudhury in The Foxes’ midfield pecking order.
Here’s the best of the reaction from Leicester fans over the potential sale of Mendy:
Get rid

Sell 100%. Ndidi and Hamza should start above him without question and he doesn’t have the muscle or vision to boss a midfield.

Ideally I’d like to keep him. But it’s clear he’s behind Wilf and Hamza in the pecking order, so he may want a new challenge. Hope we get a decent price if he does go, as he’s a good player.

Sell. Not a bad little player but think take the money and re invest.

As much as i like him, with Ndidi, Hamza and possibly Tielemans that can play close to CDM, I’m not so sure we need him. Good player though
