Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has committed his long-term future to the West London club by agreeing a new five-year deal leaving many supporters at Stamford Bridge more than thrilled at the news.

Mount has been at Chelsea since the age of six, joining the club in 2005 and was part of the youth squad which won both the 2016 and 2017 FA Youth Cup as well as the UEFA Youth League in 2016. The 20-year-old also has international recognition being named the UEFA European Under-19 Championship’s Golden Player as England won the tournament.

The young midfielder has been out on loan each of the last two seasons – first impressing with Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie and then under new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard during his tenure at Derby County last season where Mount scored 11 and assisted six in 44 appearances.

It looks as if Lampard will integrate Mount into the first-team this season with the exciting prospect already impressing in pre-season, taking his place on the plane to Japan yesterday. His contract extension has delighted many Chelsea supporters ahead of the new season.
