Nottingham Forest fans are split over a potential deadline day move that could see Jack Colback return to the City Ground for another spell at the club.
The Newcastle midfielder spent last season on loan at the East Midlands side where he was a key player as he started 38 games in the league.
During that time, he scored three goals and got one assist, but it’s his defensive and ball retention stats where he truly impresses.
He averaged 3.2 tackles per game and had a pass success rate of 87.3 per cent.
Colback is a player with plenty of experience. He has made 178 appearances in the Premier League during spells with Sunderland and Newcastle.
The 29-year-old has reportedly been told he can leave the Magpies, and Forest have apparently entered negotiations for his signature.
Despite his good performances last season, some sections of the fanbase don’t want to see him come back.
Forest already have a number of central midfielders and with the arrival of John Bostock looking likely, supporters believe Colback would be an unnecessary addition.
He is really not needed if we are signing Bostock!

Another fan had a negative view towards the transfer due to the fact he simply doesn’t rate the midfielder.
Unpopular opinion: Colback is massively over-rated and we are better without him. He’s a liability and gives away dangerous free-kicks all the time. There’s a reason #nufc fans hate him #nffc

Unsurprisingly, there were other supporters who had a differing view. Some Twitter users were excited by the prospect of Colback lining up in the famous red shirt once again.
