Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing goalkeeper Brice Samba from French outfit Caen.
The fanbase have had plenty to say about this potential move on social media, but their views on the matter are quite different.
The arrival of Samba would be Forest’s ninth signing of the summer.
The initial reaction from a number of fans was confusion. The Reds already have four senior goalkeepers, including one who was only signed a few weeks ago.
It certainly is a bit of a headscratcher as the goalkeeping position isn’t usually one that gets rotated too often.
With Costel Pantilimon, Jordan Smith, Luke Steele and Arijanet Muric all already at the club, some fans can’t understand why they’re in for another goalie.
@danielstorey85 totally agree. Bizarre spending that kind of money on someone who will get splinters in his backside for at least the next 12 months. Especially when we have no actual fit senior right back for starters

Daniel is right. This is absolutely barmy stuff from #nffc https://t.co/uQjROcD31F

Agree @petermblackburn – absolute waste of money when we have four senior goalkeepers on the books.

Despite a few supporters questioning their interest in the stopper, others have been able to rationalise it.
In fact, when you read their arguments the potential signing of Samba starts to make a lot more sense.
The aforementioned keepers may not be at the club next season as Muric is only a loan and two of the other three are out of contract next year.
The signing of Samba seems like it’s an instance of long-term planning, and some fans understand why their club are in for him.
Muric will be our number one this season. Pantilimon, Smith and Steele clearly have no future at the club. Samba will be eased in this year to become our number one in a year’s time when Muric goes back to City. Seems fine to me.

Clearly sabri is not a fan of pants, steele, smith. Brice is a top talent and would be a ideal long term no 1, got to remember all our gks are out of contract this year and im sure Muric would have a recall option like last year incase of injurys at city, be a good signing fella

Guess we need someone next season, and none of the others are in the sweeper keeper style. Get him now, bed him in he can compete/push Muric and hopefully we find a home for the others. If we couldn’t afford it I’m sure we wouldn’t do it.
