Nottingham Forest and Derby County have one of the most heated rivalries in English football, so inevitably anything the Rams do will have their rival supporters talking.
With Wayne Rooney heavily linked with a move to last season’s playoff finalists, many Forest fans have been discussing the move.
The former Manchester United striker has apparently been offered a contract to sign as a player-coach at Pride Park.
In recent seasons Derby have had some strong links with ex-England stars. Just last year they appointed Frank Lampard as their manager, and in January they signed Ashley Cole on a short-term deal.
The Rams will be hoping to go one better than last year by securing a spot in the Premier League and bringing in a man who has scored over 200 Premier League goals will certainly help their cause.
Of course, many Forest fans will have been supporters of Rooney during his time playing for England. The forward captained the Three Lions for a number of years, and in 2015 he became the nation’s all-time record goalscorer.
The City Ground faithful were unhappy to see a man they previously had so much admiration for joining their most hated rivals.
I really hope this Rooney to Derby stuff is some cruel joke. One of my all-time favourite footballers going to them will be devastating. Here’s hoping he priced himself out of it ???? #nffc

Other supporters weren’t coy on the fact that they were jealous to see Derby bringing in such a talented player.
Exciting time for Derby signing Wayne Rooney …… meanwhile we are signing useless Gambian goalkeepers ???? this club is pathetic #nffc

Not afraid to admit it. As an #nffc fan I’m incredibly jealous of #dcfc signing Wayne Rooney. Genius move all round; still a great player, I’m certain will be a great coach and marketing wise he’s every chairman’s dream. Let’s hope he gets locked in bubbles health spa. Bastards

Hard to admit but what a coup by Derby bringing in Rooney. Inspire the young, increase merchandise, enhance club profile and still pretty handy on the pitch.. #inspired #masterplan #envious #nffc

One fan stated that Rooney is past his best and he won’t be a good signing for Derby, but his recent record of scoring 23 goals in his last two MLS seasons may indicate that he is wrong about this one.
Don’t understand the hype about Rooney joining Derby. It’s just another Ashley Cole situation. He’s past it, will be way off the pace coming from MLS and Championship will be his level, hence no Prem teams in for him. Think about it #nffc #dcfc
