Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter are far from happy after their club were linked with a move for Bordeaux striker Alexandre Mendy.
Forest are seemingly in need of some more firepower up top.
Their current attacking options consist of Lewis Grabban, a 36-year-old Daryl Murphy and an inexperienced Rafa Mir.
While Grabban has proven himself to be quality in this division by scoring 36 goals over the past two seasons – his understudies aren’t quite up to scratch. Murphy has been told he can leave the club, and Mir only netted seven goals in the Spanish second tier last term.
However, Forest fans don’t seem to think Mendy is the solution to their problems as his scoring record isn’t great.
He’s scored just 11 goals in 72 appearances in the French league, and returns like that just aren’t good enough.
Forest supporters believe that their team should be looking at a much more prolific forward.
Signings like this will never get us up

Looks a goal machine. NOT ????

Oh my. We’ll never get anywhere with these signings, don’t think we’ll ever go up. When will we learn.

Hardly prolific! Reckon I’d score more than this fella

Other fans took this as an opportunity to criticise the board for targeting mediocre players.
One Twitter user even compared this to the Fawaz era, stating that the owner isn’t spending enough money on the squad.
Its fawaz and montanier all over again, show some money and go get Gayle from Newcastle along with a right back of quality with no injury background as this jenkinson history of injuries not great at present looks like another poor window signing cheap

A few members of the fanbase stated that the Reds need players who are proven at this level if they’re going to be promoted this season.
Let’s start opening negotiations with some proven players who can hopefully get us to the promise land. @NFFC dierby are doing it everybody else is doing it want to be as successful as our sister club? Won’t ever achieve what we have in the past

Why can’t we actually sign players proven in the league. We are trying to replace deadwood with unknowns. There seems a real disparity between what the owner says and what happens with the playing staff
