With Aston Villa signing 22-year-old Brazilian forward Wesley from Club Brugge and being linked with Brentford hitman Neal Maupay, many Villa fans are torn as to who should start for Dean Smith on the opening day of the new season. The two players bring different styles with Wesley being a target man type striker whereas Maupay is a shorter, more mobile centre forward.
The potential strike-force at Villa Park in their first season back in the big time is frightening, with the two scoring a combined 45 goals last season.
The idea of having both strikers available has left many Villa fans debating as to which should be preferred, or how they can both play at the same time, as well as how it would affect the rest of the team. Some Villa fans believe that whoever performs best in pre-season should get the starting berth against Tottenham.
Here is the best of the reaction.
If we sign Maupay, who starts vs Tottenham? #avfc pic.twitter.com/VeGMpsutJP

Let them fight it out in preseason.

My heart says that we start with Wes. But my head is saying ‘let’s see how he gets on pre season first’.

If all the players come in who we’re after then this would be my starting 11. #avfc pic.twitter.com/wKWLIzdTlv

Maupay is no one trick pony he doesn’t have to play up the middle can also play wide out. I think he would be a great addition should it happen
