After announcing the signing of Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo from Rapid Vienna last night Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to rejoice about their newest player.

Neil Lennon has brought the left-back to Parkhead from Austria to address a problem area of the pitch for Celtic after the departure of Emilio Izaguirre and probable loss of Kieran Tierney to Arsenal. Mbombo excelled for Rapid Vienna in the Europa League last season, playing against his new club’s arch-rivals Rangers in the group stages, and at 24-years-old he could nail down the left-back spot for many years to come.

Mbombo had two seasons in Austria with Rapid Vienna after moving away from his homeland of Belgium, where he’d previously played for Saint-Truiden and Club Brugge. The reported £3 million outlay on the defender takes Celtic’s spending past £10 million- after the arrivals of Christopher Julien from Toulouse and Luca Connell from Bolton- and it doesn’t seem as if the spending will stop there either. Luton’s Jack Stacey has been linked to Celtic, as has Nice’s Romain Perraud, in what promises to be a very busy summer window for Lennon and Celtic as he looks to rebuild a squad depleted by player departures.

Mbombo has arrived and will likely be joined by others soon and these Celtic fans are starting to get excited.
