Nottingham Forest’s campaign didn’t get off to the start they wanted as they lost their opening league game against West Brom.

It didn’t take long for the fanbase to point the finger at Sabri Lamouchi after he lost his first competitive game in charge of the East Midlands outfit – but the supporters’ reactions were far too harsh after this result.

For a start, Forest weren’t playing against a poor side here. They were playing against last year’s fourth-placed team who may once again be right up there this season.

Yes, they were beaten, but they weren’t embarrassingly outplayed. Forest actually had more shots than the Baggies, and if it weren’t for two errors leading to goals from their keeper, they could easily have won this one.

Forest do have a talented squad, and their frontline is one of the best in the division, but losing 2-1 to a top side due to a couple of goalkeeping errors is no reason to lambaste your new manager.

Some supporters criticised his team selection, while others said he would be out of a job sooner rather than later.

Fans play a massive part in how the team performs on the pitch, and if the City Ground faithful are already losing faith in their manager, then it doesn’t bode well for the season ahead.

Perhaps it’s the years of watching the Reds chop and change their manager that has made the fanbase ultra-critical of any new appointment, but calling for the gaffer’s head after one game in charge is a new low.

It’s always frustrating to lose your first game of the season, but Lamouchi is unfairly getting the brunt of the blame.
