A recurring theme this summer has been the restrictions that have been placed on Arsenal’s transfer budget, with owner Stan Kroenke not investing in the club since taking over. However, in an attempt to reinforce the playing squad at the Emirates next season, some of the board members are reportedly scheduling a meeting with Kroenke to ask for funding towards transfers.
This has sent many Arsenal fans into dreamland, who have been dying for the American owner to invest in the club and make them a real force in the Premier League. Arsenal have finished outside the top four in the league for the past three years, missing out on Champions League qualification last year by being humiliated in the Europe League final by Chelsea. One Arsenal fan even believes that the news is all part of a bigger plan put in place by manager Unai Emery.
Here is some of the Gunners fans reaction to the rumours:
Interesting. First Mail and now, Football London reporting that Arsenal's transfer team will hold a meeting with owner Stan Kroenke, requesting him to invest some funds into the club to improve the state of the transfer budget. #afc

Transfer Budget £45m
Plus £100m – £150m Kroenke Investment
Plus Player’s Sales Around £100mThat’s £300m – £350m Spend
Only £200m-£250m net spendWe can build a top team that could Challenge both Man City & Liverpool for the title

I think they know it’s an opportunity for us this season. There’s some quality available, Ole’s at the wheel and no one knows how Lampard will get on. Think we can get top 4 again with the right signings

This means we are going to spend over £45m this summer and all credit will go to Kroenke. Club trying to clean his reputation.

If the rumours are true, then the BOARD have ambition and shows that they aren’t “yes” men but even if Kroenke invests I won’t be completely sold.

Emery has said quite a few times one of his goals is to bring the fanbase together. Imagine having 100M in the bank, telling everyone they have 45M then pretending the extra funds came from Kroenke. It would unite the fanbase as we would be glad he’s finally caring…
