Time is running out for Aston Villa to find another forward option with the transfer window slamming shut on Thursday night.

One of their strikers, Scott Hogan, looks set to join Stoke City on loan whilst the club have been linked to the likes of Neal Maupay, Charlie Austin and Jean-Kevin Augustin over the summer.

One man who doesn’t appear to be on their radar, despite initial rumours, is Galatasaray forward Mbaye Diagne…

Diagne has been lighting up the Turkish league over the last 18 months or so after making the switch from China in January 2018.

He scored for fun at recent Villa addition Trezeguet’s former club Kasimpasa – in 36 appearances he netted 32 goals and four assists – which ultimately earned him a move to back-to-back Super Lig champions Galatasaray for €10m (£9.2m).

His goalscoring prowess has since continued at Cimbom as the 27-year-old has bagged 11 goals in 17 appearances.

The lack of an incoming in the forward department, as of yet, has left many fans at Villa Park discussing the matter with one supporter stating that another striker is needed before the end of the transfer window.

Villa boss Dean Smith has already shattered the club’s record transfer fee this summer by bringing in Wesley Moraes for £22m from Club Brugge but that doesn’t appear to be enough for some.

A couple of fans believed that Jean-Kevin Augustin is the most likely candidate to join whilst others suggested Daniel Sturridge with one even ambitiously throwing Andrea Belotti’s name out there.

One supporter said it was pointless buying a striker at this stage of the transfer window, comparing any potential addition to Keinan Davis.
