Arsenal eased into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Emirates. But one player, in particular, caught the eye of the Gunners’ faithful.

Kieran Tierney made his debut on Tuesday after joining from Celtic for £24.3m in the summer and the 22-year-old repaid the patience of Arsenal fans by producing a top-class performance on the night, proving that good things come to those who wait.

Fellow new signing Gabriel Martinelli scored a brace, Joe Willock, Rob Holding and Reiss Nelson rounded off a perfect night for the young Gunners’ as they now await the announcement of their opponents in the fifth round draw on Wednesday.

The former Celtic defender paid tribute to Arsenal fans after the victory on Twitter (via @kierantierney1) and said it was a “great feeling” to make his debut in north London.

Supporters were delighted with his performance and responded to the Scotsman in waves on social media, with one fan regarding him as the “best left-back in the Premier League“.
