In a 4-0 drubbing of Newcastle in the opening game of the Asia Cup – Morgan Gibbs-White scored his first goal for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. The goal came from some questionable defending from Newcastle, leading the ball breaking to the youngster, who then calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner past Karl Darlow.
Gibbs-White was selected to lead the line alongside Diogo Jota in the absence of Mexican centre forward Raul Jimenez – who had been absent as he recovers from his Gold Cup exploits with Mexico. While Jota scored a brace – it was the youngster’s goal that excited the Wolves’ faithful.
Many Wolves fans were quick to congratulate Gibbs-White on his goal, and let the England Under-21 international know that they hope it is the first of many at the club. A lot of Wolves fans hope to see more of the youngster in the first team next season, even if it is out of position at centre forward.
Here is the best of the reaction.
An unbelievable feeling, thanks for the messages ????❤️ https://t.co/Ty9tqI9DeN
