Liverpool’s Alisson Becker has been in fine form at the Copa America and that continued last night as his clean sheet helped Brazil into the final following the 2-0 defeat of Argentina. Many fans at Anfield have reacted to his outstanding performance by claiming he should be in contention for the Ballon d’Or. Here’s just one of the saves from last night:

Alisson’s superb showing meant that he recorded a ninth straight clean sheet, picking up the Golden Glove award with one game to spare. The 26-year-old is set to become a record-breaker by holding all available major Golden Gloves available to him – the Premier League, the Champions League and now the Copa America.
The Brazil international helped Liverpool to a Champions League trophy as well as second place in the Premier League where they finished with the best defensive record (22 goals conceded) and most clean sheets (22).
Alisson became the most-expensive goalkeeper of all-time following his transfer to Liverpool from Roma in the summer of 2018, costing Jurgen Klopp £67m which eclipsed Manchester City’s £34.9m move for fellow compatriot Ederson a season earlier.
After the season Liverpool have had, aided by last night’s knockout of Lionel Messi’s Argentina, they could genuinely have four of the top five in the Ballon d’Or voting which would potentially include Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and now the Brazilian shot-stopper.
Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter in delirium surrounding their star man’s performance – you can read the thoughts of a number of Liverpool supporters below:
Another Firmino and Alisson masterclass? I’m shocked.

Alisson Becker has won the:
• Golden Glove for PL
• Golden Glove for UCL
• Golden Glove for Copa America
8 saves in the UCL final + 39 clean sheets for club and country and a UCL title. Currently the best GK in the world and deserves to be top 5 for Ballon d'Or.

Van Dijk and Alisson should be in the top 3 for the Ballon d’Or

Alisson Becker. The best goalkeeper in the world right now. Haven't conceded for 9 games + 39 clean sheets for #LFC & Brazil this season. If Brazil win CA he has a serious chance of winning the Ballon d'Or aswell:

9 Clean Sheets in a row for Alisson in all competitions, making 24 saves
In that time he has faced Messi, twice
6 of them have come for Brazil
But supposedly he’s only good because he has Van Dijk in front of him pic.twitter.com/1VhHRjWSpm
